HOW DO I FIND BOOKS AND DVDs?
- Start at the Library Home Page, and select Library Catalog. You can search the Library Catalog for a list of the books, dvds, and audiovisual materials owned by all NVCC campus libraries.
- If you need books on a particular topic, do a Keywords Anywhere search.
- Select the most essential words related to your topic, and type them in the search box. Then click on "Go."
- Look at your results.
- If you do not get good results, try another search using synonyms or other related terms. For example, instead of children stress, you could also try children psychology or teenagers stress. If you get too many results, try to be more specific. If you get no results, or not enough results, try terms that are more general.
- If the item you want is located at another campus, you can request that the book or DVD be sent to your campus.
- If you need help with any of these steps, ask a librarian for help at the Reference Desk.
You can:
- Search by campus, under "Select College."
- Save selected book titles in your online Bookbag to come back to later in your session. (Once you exit a session, these titles will disappear from the Bookbag.)
- Email specific records or the contents of your Bookbag to yourself.
- Specify videos or DVDs in "Advanced Search" by selecting "Visual Materials" as the Format.
- Obtain more details about a specific title (e.g., publication information, how many pages it has) by clicking on the number to the left of the title you're interested in.
- Renew books online under "My Account."
