Northern Virginia Community College is a comprehensive community college offering degree programs designed for college transfer and degrees in occupational & technical education.
The Associate in Arts (A.A.) and the Associate in Science (A.S.) degrees are designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university for the completion of a Bachelor’s degree. These programs prepare students to enter the third year at a four-year college or university. If you plan to transfer, you should meet with a counselor to plan a program of study that will meet the requirements of four-year colleges and universities.
The Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) and the Associate in Arts (A.A.A.) are designed to prepare students for employment in technical fields immediately after graduation. In limited cases, there may be special transfer agreements with area four-year colleges and universities for some of these programs.
