Chancellor's Fellowships and Professorships:

The Chancellor's Fellowship provides up to one year's leave of absence and $10,000 financial support to complete doctoral study. The Chancellor's Professorship provides support (reassigned time and financial resources) for projects. (The original New Faculty program was such a project).

Fulbright Scholarships: http://fulbright.state.gov/ While the college is not officially affiliated, many faculty have taken advantage of Fulbright opportunities for international grants.

Inquiry: The Journal of the Virginia Community Colleges

The hard-copy edition of Inquiry is published twice a year by the Virginia Community Colleges Association and the Virginia Community College System. The Electronic Edition, which is sponsored and maintained by the Virginia Community College Association, includes papers from the hard-copy edition of Inquiry. Nancy Hoagland at AL is the NVCC liaison to Inquiry.

The VaCIE-VCCS professional development faculty exchange is an annual program of short-term reciprocal professional development exchanges between the VCCS and partners from the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

Research grants are available for up to $5000. Mini-grants are available for up to $1500.

New Horizons Conference: http://www.vccs.edu/newhorizons/index.htm
This annual conference provides a forum for faculty and staff to share ways to promote excellence in learning and teaching. Next conference: April 7-9, 2005 at the Hotel Roanoke. This is a very dynamic conference; there are usually > 500 attendees.

Peer Group Meetings: http://www.vccs.edu/vcprodev/Peergroups.htm These Academic peer groups meet biannually (with full funding). These meetings encourage intra/interdisciplinary collaboration, creativity, planning, problem-solving and networking among VCCS faculty and staff.

These awards recognize creative and innovative uses of technology in college instruction. The awards are presented annually at the New Horizon's Conference.
