TORTS LGL 215
INTRODUCTION
Studies fundamental principles of the law of torts,
including preparation and use of pleadings and other documents involved in the
trial of a civil action. Emphasizes
personal injury and medical malpractice cases.
OBJECTIVES
1. The student will develop a basic understanding of
the substantive law of torts.
2. The student will be able to distinguish civil
liability from criminal responsibility.
3. The student will be able to distinguish tort from
contract liability, as well as liability for intentional torts, negligence and
strict liability torts.
4. The student will develop a basic understanding of
the various defenses to tort actions.

course. Class notes are available on my

BASIC
CONCEPTS TO BE TAUGHT IN COURSE
This course is designed to acquaint the student with
the concept of civil liability, the substantive law of torts and the various
defenses available in tort actions.

REQUIREMENTS
1. The student must attend at least 13 of the 16
regular class sessions.
2. The student must take both quizzes and both
examinations.
3. The student must complete the assigned case
briefs.
QUIZZES
AND GRADING
Each quiz will be worth 15% of the final grade.
The case brief assignments and reports will be worth
10% of the final grade.
The examinations will each count 30% of the final
grade.

B: 80-89
C: 70-79
D: 60-69
