  SYLLABUS

ASSIGNED PROJECTS

PINCH & SOLID UNIT FORMS:
Pinched bowls and related forms, spherical forms
Dowel rod forming
Lidded container, subtractive method

COIL TECHNIQUES:
Cup or vessel with handle(s)
Vessel form using template guide
Coils used as surface decoration
Flattened coil form

SLAB TECHNIQUES:
Sectional construction
Direct support method
Hollow extruded forms

TEXTURE STUDY:
Choice of building technique. Impress clay surface with at least
one found natural object and one manufactured object.

COPY OF ANCIENT POTTERY:
Construct an accurate copy of a clay object which was originally
constructed prior to 1500 A. D. A one page description of when, where and how it was made and information about the culture/
civilization in which the object was made, for an in class oral presentation and submission.

FIGURE AS CONTAINER:
Construct a container based on a human or animal form. The work
may be representational, abstract or fanciful.
