The (Wildest) Writing Process(es) Page:

I try to say this in different ways all over the program.

There are lots of writing processes, not just one.

I feel that I need to say this because lots of text books imply that there is one, right way to write.

Fishdiddles!!! There are as many writing processes as there are writers.

Use your own best way to get a writing job done, but I have included discussions, hints, worksheets about what many writers have found to be helpful when facing the empty page.

I hope some of them will help you find your own way to write.

Here are the writing topics in this program so far.  If you would like more, if you have a suggestion, if you feel like reaching out into the darkness, email .

Essays

Essay writing is where you use writing to explore an idea. Sometimes people ask you to begin by getting the idea first. Seems backward to me, but if you need to develop a thesis first (before doing the writing which is how I like to find my thesis), go to the: Thesis Worksheet

Sometimes, too, a situation will call for you to write a particular kind of essay--happens a lot in freshmen composition classes in college, and in high school classes. Here are the essay forms in this program in case you're up against one of them.
