| Required: To bisect arc AB. |
| Procedure: |

Use the segment command under the construct menu to construct segment
AB. |
Construct the perpendicular bisector of segment AB. This can be
accomplished by following the basic perpendicular bisector construction;
(help, midpoint) (help, )
or by using the tools in Sketchpad which follows: |

Select segment AB; use the midpoint command under the construct menu to
place a midpoint on AB. Label it D. |
|
Select segment AB and point D; use the command
under the construct menu and construct a
at D. |
|
Place a point at the intersection of the arc and the
bisector, label it C. |
Arc AB is bisected at C. |
| Proof: |

CE passes through the center of circle and C bisects arc AB. (The
bisector of a chord passes through the center of the circle and bisects
the arcs subtended by the chord.) |
