| Lab: |
Total points 80. Lab work - 60 pts; Assignments - 20 pts.
- All labs and assignments are 5 pts each. For the lab portion of the grade: 2 pts for doing the lab; 3 pts for accurate results.
- Late/missed policy:
- Late for lab: For each 5 min of being late, 1 point will be subtracted from the lab grade for that day, up to 5 pts.
- Late assignments/reports are accepted no later than a week after the due date and their maximum grade is decreased by 1 point.
- Only one make-up lab is allowed provided the student contacts the instructor no later than a week after the day the lab was missed.
- Students without protective shatter-resistant eye
goggles or with open-toe shoes will not be permitted to
stay in the laboratory room!
- It is a responsibility of the students to check with the schedule and to know which labs require protective goggles.
- Students must have a passing lab grade in order to pass the
class!

| Quizzes: |
Total points 60. No more than 60 pts count toward the class grade.
- There will be weekly on-line quizzes, posted on Blackboard, due either Sunday or Tuesday, 11:00 pm.
- It is the student's responsibility to know when each quiz is due. Check with Blackboard for the most up-to-date quiz deadlines or for any changes in the schedule.
- No late quizzes will be accepted.

| Exams: |
- There will be five 1-hour exams each worth 40 points. The
top four highest scores will be counted toward the final grade.
- The two-hour final exam is worth 100 points, is comprehensive, and all problems
are show work.
- The instructor will provide a formula sheet. Students may print it out at home in advance, and bring it to class. No other formula sheets will be allowed.
- During an exam, students may bring only a pen/pencil and a calculator programmable calculators must have blank memory before the exam.
- No cell phones or other electronic devices are allowed to be turned on during an exam.
- No late or make-up exams will be given. For students who know in advance that they will not be able to attend an exam, an arrangement may be made for that exam to be taken at EARLIER time.

| Make-up policy: |
There will be absolutely no make
up exams or quizzes. One make up lab is allowed. Contact the instructor no later than a week after the missed lab.

| Academic misconduct: |
Cheating will not be tolerated in
any form. Copying and using someone else's work to obtain
credit, as well as letting someone else copy your work, is
considered cheating.
- Cheating on an exam will result in
failing that exam. A second offence will result in
automatic failing of the class!
- During an exam, if you
leave the room for any reason, you will not be permitted
to continue working afterwards.
- All assignments are individual unless otherwise specified.
- The use of unauthorized electronic devices during an exam is considered cheating.
- For those students who show a discrepancy greater than a full letter grade between their in-class and out-of-class performance, the instructor reserves the right to administer additional in-person examination.
