| Attendance: | Students are expected to attend all lecture and laboratory sessions. Students are responsible for all material covered in the lecture, laboratory and assignments. Students are also responsible for withdrawing themselves from the class. | ||||||

| Grades: | Total points 400. Lab - 15%; Quizzes- 15%; 3 Exams - 15% each; Final - 25%. | ||||||
| Lab: | Total points 60. Experiments and Data - 5 points, assignments - 3 points each. If a student is late by more than 15 min for the lab, the student can still do the lab experiment but cannot receive credit for that lab. Students without protective goggles will not be allowed to stay in the laboratory room | ||||||
| Quizzes: | Total points 60. There will be weekly on-line quizzes posted on Blackboard. Though the quizzes will be usually due on Sunday, 11:00 pm, it is the student's responsibility to know the actual due date. The quizzes will be based on the homework problems. They also may include material covered in lab and lecture. | ||||||
| Exams: |
There will be 3 midterm exams each worth 60 points. The
2-hour final exam is 100 points and is comprehensive.
No formula sheets will be allowed. Students may bring only a pen/pencil and a calculator; programmable calculators must have blank memory before the exam. Some formulae will be provided by the instructor. |

| Make-up policy: | If an exam is missed due to a serious unavoidable reason (e.g. personal illness), the student may be allowed to take a make-up exam. In such a case, the student must contact the instructor prior to the exam date. Under no circumstances will there be make-up exams for students who have missed more than 5 regular classes (lecture or lab sessions)! There is no make-up for the final exam! | ||||||
| Academic misconduct: | Cheating will not be tolerated in any form. Copying and using someone else's work to obtain credit, as well as letting someone else copy your work, is considered cheating. Cheating on an exam will result in failing that exam. A second offence will result in automatic failing of the class! During an exam, if you leave the room for any reason, you will not be permitted to continue working afterwards. | ||||||
