- Students who have not attended class by the Census Date, Sep.10, will be administratively withdrawn from the class.
- No withdrawals will be permitted after the Last Day to Withdraw Without Grade Penalty, Nov. 2
- Students are responsible for withdrawing themselves from the class.

Lab - 15%; Quizzes- 15%;
3 Exams - 15% each; Final - 25%.

| Lab: |
- Total points 60. Experiments and Data - 2 points each, lab
assignments - 2 points each.
- If a student is late by more
than 15 min for the lab, he can still do the lab but cannot receive
credit for that lab.
- Students without shatter-resistant eye
goggles or with open-toe shoes will not be permitted to stay in the
laboratory room!
- It is the students' responsibility to
know which lab experiments require protective eye goggles. No students
will be permitted to perform those experiments without protective eye
goggles.
- Students must have a passing lab grade in order to pass the
class!

| Quizzes: |
- Total points 60. No more than 60
quiz points can be earned throughout the entire semester.
- There will be weekly on-line quizzes
posted on Blackboard each consisting of mostly multiple
choice questions. All quizzes are due Friday, 10:00 pm.
- It is the student's responsibility
to know when each quiz is due.

| Exams: |
- There will be 3 exams each worth 60 points.
- The Final Exam is worth 100 pts, it is 2 hours long and is comprehensive.
- Only approved formula sheets can be used during exams. You may download a copy of the formula sheet that will be provided from http://www.nvcc.edu/home/tstantcheva/phy201.htm
- Students may bring only a pen/pencil and a calculator; programmable calculators must have blank memory before the exam.

| Make-up policy: |
- If an exam is missed due to a
serious unavoidable reason (e.g. personal illness), the
student may be allowed to take a make-up exam, but no more than one such permission will ever be granted. In order for such permission to be considered, the student must contact the instructor prior to
the exam date.
- Under no circumstances will there be make-up
exams for students who have missed more than three lecture or lab classes.!
- There is no make-up for the final exam!

| Academic misconduct: |
Cheating will not be tolerated in
any form. Copying and using someone else's work to obtain
credit, as well as letting someone else copy your work, is
considered cheating.
- Cheating on an exam will result in
failing that exam. A second offence will result in
automatic failing of the class!

- During an exam, if you leave the room for any reason, you will not be permitted to continue working afterwards.
- All assignments are individual unless otherwise specified.
