| Fall 2008 (2nd 8 weeks) Courses |
If you want to take a Travel and Tourism class this semester, you may take TRV 100, Introduction to Travel and Tourism, and/or TRV 111, Travel Geography 1, online starting Oct. 6. They are each 3 credits and required for the certificate and degree in Travel and Tourism. Other opportunities this semester: TRV 138 Regional Tour Guiding - Saturdays 2nd Eight Weeks starting 10/25 9AM-2:30PM This is a great course to help prepare you to pass the D.C. Tour Guiding License. Even if you don't want to be a tour guide, you should enjoy learning more about the sightseeing sites in D.C. The instructor, Jeanne Fogle, is one of the best (if not the best) tour guides in the city. You visit sites and learn SO much. I took this course years ago before it was divided into two courses. I thought it was great and encourage you to take it even if just for the fun of learning more about the D.C. area. Invite your friends and family to take it with you. You will not be disappointed. This is a 3 credit course. TRV 195 048N, Home Based Travel Management 3 Saturdays-10/25, 11/1 & 11/15 8:00 AM - 1:30 PM. This course is taught by Barbara Kiker who has many years of travel agency experience and now has her own travel business. I think you need our other courses and experience before launching out on your own but Barbara can show you how to work with a host agency, etc. This is a 1 credit course. This is the only time this academic year these courses will be taught. They are not required courses but count as TRV electives toward the certificate and degree in Travel and Tourism. Spring 2009 - ASTA International Destination EXPO - Sun City, South Africa This will be a 3 credit travel course (elective). The expo is during our Spring break. If you want more details, check it out on www.asta.org I suggest you register as quickly as possible as the great airfare and pre and post trips are going rapidly. If you have any questions, please contact Talula Guntner, 703 455-0760, or tguntner@nvcc.edu |
