About This Site This site will help students identify their values, skills, interests, and temperaments. In conjunction with reading the book Gig, Americans Talk about Their Jobs, students develop the language skills and the self-awareness to research a potential career. How to use: Begin by investigating one of the topics on the opening page. This will lead you to an exercise to discover either your values, your interests, your strengths or your temperaments. I have created a log for you to record your information. To record your results, see the professional log page to print out. After you collect this information, you then will be able to investigate a career with these parts of you in mind. If you seek further information, see my Resources Page for additional Career Search Information. About the author of this site: As a reading teacher with a background in Linguistics and Career Development, I am interested in helping students make connections between what they learn in school and what they do outside of the classroom This site is an adjunct to teaching the students reading skills which are essential to their success in whatever occupational they choose. This curriculum has been successful in motivating students as a result of students seeing a connection between school and their own life experience. |
