TYPICAL BACTERIAL CELL (TBC)
(click on a cell part or a label to learn more)
1. A typical bacterial cell ranges from 0.5 to 1 micrometer wide (deep) and 2 to 4 micrometers in length.  Only some have pili and flagella.
2. The nucleoid is NOT to be confused with a true nucleus.  It is not separated from the rest of the cell by a membrane.  It consists of a single "chromosome" floating in the cytoplasm.
