HIS 121 - Course Objectives

Through lectures, discussions, readings, video images, tests, and an optional paper assignment, students will not only engage the facts of American history to 1865, they will also be asked to consider whether these revolutionary commitments remain relevant in the late 20th century. This course will attempt to demonstrate that through American history, we become more deeply engaged in our own times; we extend democracy through the dimension of time, enfranchising and enlisting our predecessors in the struggle with the challenges of the present and future.
