     Leadership, community service, scholarship, and new friendships.   It all begins with Student Activities!    This year is going to be an exciting year for student leadership opportunities at the Alexandria Campus.   We are working on three College-wide initiatives:  A College-wide (six-campus) student newspaper, a College-wide soccer team, and the creation of Virginia21 Chapters at several of our campuses.   Virginia21 is an action-tank organization which educates and involves students in the political process.   We will be holding a voter registration drive in September, then lobbying to pass the VCCS Community College Transfer Grant proposal mid-November through February.  

     There are numerous leadership opportunities available to students.  Getting involved not only enhances your resume, scholarship eligibility and applications to four-year colleges, it also helps develop your own skills/abilities and helps develop new friendships.   See the link (below) for Student Activities, which lists our active student organizations and interest groups, such as the International Club, Muslim Student Association, Student Government Association, Persian Club, Student Business Association...and more!   Get in touch with me, to learn more about what's going on at our campus...now.

     My role at the Alexandria Campus involves providing a variety of support services to students, directly and through program support and management.   I provide academic counseling through Counseling Services.  As Student Services Specialist, I oversee the management, activities and events of all student organizations and interest groups at the Alexandria Campus.   As an Advisor to the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, I am a contact person to learn about eligibility requirements, officer positions, and honor society events.  Finally, each year we develop leadership programs, retreats and other training opportunities to benefit our student leaders at the Alexandria Campus.
