Making path animations in Dreamweaver 2
Here's an example. Here's another one, with some explanation.
You can get the full DW manual from
There's also a nice Shockwave movie of how to make path animations at
These are really rough instructions just to get you going.
1. Window menu/Objects/Draw Layer - Draw a at the starting point of your animation - say the lower right.
2. Put something in your layer. It could be most anything HTMLish, but let's make it simple text for now.
3. F9 - Timelines - Then grab the (top right) handle for your layer. Throw it onto the first column timeline - a timeline should appear, beginning at keyframe 1. The two white dots are keyframes.
4. Drag the end keyframe to 4
5. At 15 frames per second, that'll give you about three seconds of animation. The red playback head should be on 45.
5. Drag the layer to its final destination. A linear path will appear. Use the back and forwards controls on the Timeline to see your layer move. Be sure to check Autoplay, or your animation won't run.
6. Add keyframes to curve your path. Select the 15th frame on the Timeline and right-click, then choose Add Keyframe. Drag the layer to some new position - you'll see the path bend to the new position. Repeat these steps until your path is the way you want it.
Note: DW can record you dragging the object around - right-click on the layer and choose "Record Path." However this seems to generate way too much script data, IMO. This thing'll run slow enough with just a few keyframes.
7. Be sure "Autoplay" is checked in the Timeline, and test everything out in your browser! Then several more - there are often variations both in speed and path shape between browsers and versions. And of course the whole thing collapses in pre-4 browsers.
