I would like to thank the VCCS for a Professional Development Grant of 3 credits reassigned time in the Spring 1997 semester. I would also like to thank the Alexandria provost, Dr. Barbara Wyles, and the acting provost (1996-1997), Dr. Paul McVeigh for monetary support of $300 and 3 extra credits reassigned time, as well as for future support for this project. Without this time and money, the project would not have been started, much less completed.
I have been blessed to work with many people who have given generously of their time. I thank Dr. Barbara Wyles and Dr. Paul McVeigh for their support and guidance. Thanks to Dr. Stuart Werner, Carmen Goodman, Dr. F. Eugene Brown, and Richard Risk for acting as mentors to my students. My experience was so enriched by my MTH 242-01A students: Eman Abbas, Sibel Artemel, Nastari Budiman, Jeannette Chai, Xue Cheng, Jerad Clay, Roksana Ehtesham, Sonia Hossain, Nancy Miller, Timothy Mundia, Song-Thu Nguyen, Thu Nga Nguyen, Maralyn Norsten, Kimberlyn Piper, Dounia Reda, Numo Suwaneh, Viratsamay Visonnavong, and Milton Zapata. Their dedication, skill, enthusiasm, and intelligence kept me going when all else went wrong! Finally, special thanks to Dr. Stuart Werner who has been a friend, colleague, editor, and mentor through this process.
