As discussed in Steps to Better Thinking, Wolcott & Lynch encourage teachers to determine what level of critical thinking skills their students currently possess. Then they recommend that instructors scaffold or support their students as the students strive to develop their higher-order thinking skills.
The activities below have been designed to encourage an environment that supports critical thinking skill development. Most are suitable for a variety of disciplines and follow a learner-centered transactional pedagogy.
