      • Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man - this database at the National Institutes of Health specializes in human inherited diseases. It gives gene loci and other information. While it is  mainly for professionals, it is easy for students to use.
      • Gene Cards - this database at the National Institutes of Health contains information on human genes, proteins, and diseases. It's easy to use --- just type in the name of a protein, gene, or disease.
      • National Center for Biotechnology Information - this database maintained by the National Library of Medicine is an excellent searchable resource on human genes and genetic diseases. Try clicking on Human Genome Resources.
