Classes will be lectures and listening. Student assignments will be reading and listening. Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites for this course. Required Texts and Materials: Required: Concise History of Western Music, Barbara R. Hanning Recommended: Concise Norton Recorded Anthology of Western Music, ed. Palisca Norton Anthology of Western Music, volume 1, ed. Palisca Policies: Students are responsible for attending classes, doing assigned homework and preparing for and taking tests. All College Policies outlined in the College Catalog and Student Handbook will be adhered to, including those of academic integrity. Please be on-time for classes, the nature of our work makes lateness disruptive. Missing greater than 30% of classes will cause a failing grade for the class, regardless of the reason for the absence. Make-up tests will only be given when the student requests the teacher and provides acceptable reasons for the request. Reasonably late homework is acceptable. In case of emergency, please follow the emergency procedure as discussed on the first day of school and as posted in the classroom. NVCC is a place for learning and growing.
