Course Description and Objectives:
An introduction to MIDI and digital audio, this course will teach how
these
formats work, how to set up and use equipment, and how to use it to
write
and arrange music. Multimedia, video, and educational and training
applications are discussed as well. This course will include both theory
and lab work.

What MIDI and Digital Audio are
How MIDI and Digital Audio work
History of Electronic Music
How to select and connect equipment
Anatomy of a sound card
Crash course in Music Theory
How to compose and arrange music
Software and hardware selection and use
Electronic theory and troubleshooting
Multimedia and Internet Multimedia Techniques
Policies:
Students are responsible for attending classes, doing assigned homework and projects, and preparing for and taking tests.
Students are expected to follow the Information Technology Student/Patron
Ethics Agreement
as posted in computer areas and academic integrity standards as set
down in the Student Handbook.
Missing greater than 30% of classes will cause a failing grade for the
class, regardless of the reason for the absence.
Make-up tests will only be given when the student requests the teacher
and provides acceptable reasons for the request.
Reasonably late homework is acceptable.
In case of emergency, please follow the emergency procedure as discussed on the first day of school and as posted in the classroom.

Class Participation and attendance: 15%
Projects: 45%
Mid-term test: 20%
Final test: 20%
