This week your work will focus on debriefing your persuasive talk to fine tune your speaking skills.
1. Submit Exam #2 (found in the Assignments on the Blackboard site);
2.
Sign on
to Blackboard and complete two options for Unit Ten on the discussion board.
Interact with your group as well;
3. Read Chapter 16 of your textbook, A Speaker's Guidebook;
4. Review your speech to prepare your critique;and
5. Watch videotape #10: Fine Tuning a Talk.
Using the persuasive speech (or the demonstration speech), analyze your talk in terms of its content, your delivery and the effect of your speech upon your audience. Be sure to reference the feedback you received from your instructor and your classmates. In 2-3 pages, offer specific suggestions for ways you might improve your public speaking skills. Be sure to comment on what you are doing well!
Include in your critique your reactions to the PRPSA post-test, found in the External Links. How does this score compare with your pre-test? Inlclude your pre-test and post-test scores in your critique.
Submit your critique to Nan Peck at npeck@nvcc.edu. Be sure to use attach an MS Word compatible file and use your student e-mail. Put SPD 100 in the message line.
