Let
him never make a speech until he has something to say. This last is about
the hardest advice to follow, perhaps.......

This
week your work will focus on gathering materials and conducting research, rehearsing and presenting your demonstration speech.
1.
Watch videotape #6: Researching a Talk;
2. Read Chapters 8-10 of your textbook, A Speaker's Guidebook;
3. Sign
on to Blackboard and complete two options for Unit Six on the discussion board.
Interact with your group as well;
4. Check out the assignment for the Demonstration Speech Outline:
Using the guidelines provided in Chapter 13 of your text, prepare a speaking outline for your demonstration speech. Make a copy of this outline and bring both copies to class. You will use one while delivering your talk and give the other to your instructor.
Be sure to include the following:
· Your
purpose and thesis statement;
· Your introduction, discussion and conclusion; and
· Delivery cues.
Be sure to bring your VHS videotape to class. Cue it up for your instructor.
