week your work will focus on getting acquainted with the nature of public
address, your instructor and your classmates.

2. Read my introduction (see left) and e-mail me a letter of introduction, npeck@nvcc.edu;
3. Do you have your college e-mail address? Go to the NVCC mainpage at http://www.nvcc.edu and click "mail and web" Once you have it, go to sign on to Blackboard
(http://learn.vccs.edu) and explore the SPD
100 course site. I expect you to post responses to the discusssion forums
twice each week. You'll want to post your initial responses on Monday or Tuesday
and then return to respond to your classmates on Wednesday or Thursday.
4. Do two of the four Unit One choices on the Blackboard discussion board;
5. Watch Videotape #2, Dealing with Speech Anxiety;
6. Read Chapter 5 of your textbook, A Pocket Guide to Public Speaking; and
7. Check out my tips on "Managing Nervousness."
