Self-initiated Withdrawal: If you wish to withdraw from this course, you should fax a completed Refund and Withdrawal form to Registration at (703) 323-3392 or mail the form to the Extended Learning Institute, Attention: (Course Number), Northern Virginia Community College, 8333 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, Virginia 22003-3796.
Withdraw date: If you do not complete and submit your Introductory letter, News Article 1, Labs 1 and 2, and Exam 1 by your withdraw date, your instructor will withdraw you from this course. Your grade will be a W.
End date and possible Incomplete grade: If you are unable to complete this course by your end date, but have completed half of the coursework, you may be eligible for an extension, that is, an Incomplete grade. The following assignments constitute half of the coursework: Introductory letter; Articles 1 and 2; Research Paper; Exams 1 and 2, with passing grades; and 5 labs, which must include Labs 1 and 5. If you have not completed these assignments, no extension is possible.
After you print this page, fill in the due dates for each unit, counting from your start date as week 1. Keep this page with your Biology 102 materials and record your grades as your work is graded and returned to you. (You can also save this page as a Word document to your Biology 102 file on your personal computer.) At any point you can add up your total points to determine where you stand in the course.
Lecture Grade Record
Biology 102 includes both a lecture portion, which is worth 70% of your final grade and a laboratory portion, which is worth 30% of your final grade. You must have a cumulative score of at least 60% and pass two of the four exams in order to receive a passing grade.
