Daphnia. A site containing information about and pictures of the Crustacean, Daphnia.Daphnia. A Cornell University and Penn State University Environmental Inquiry site describing the use of Daphnia for bioassays.
The Virtual Pig. An excellent site that will help you to prepare for the fetal pig dissection. It includes photographs, animations and self quizzes. You will need to download Shockwave in order to see the animations. Directions are provided at the site.
Digestive System. This site covers the anatomy and physiology of the digestive system. It includes a section on review of Food Chemistry, that is, the molecules in food and the endproducts of their digestion. It also has a section on the digestive system of some herbivores. There are self evaluation quizzes as well. Highly recommended to accompany Unit 9 in the Study Guide.
Human Anatomy OnLine - the Inner Body. Has images of various human body parts. Some of the animations are especially good. Check out the animation of the mouth and throat showing the action of the epiglottis.
The Heart An online exploration of the heart. From the Franklin Institute Science Museum in Philadelphia.
Nervous System. An interesting site on the brain and spinal cord. It has good diagrams and explanations and some self evaluation quizzes.
The Eye. This site has great diagrams and photos of the eye and explains the functions of its parts.
Medline Health Information. This site provides links for a broad array of health topics, including many different diseases and conditions. It is provided by the National Library of Medicine and is a highly recommended site.
Pub Med. This site, a service of the National Library of Medicine, provides access to MEDLINE citations and to additional life science journals. There are links to many sites providing full text articles.
Web MD. A good place to begin a search for medical issues, including topics for Biology 102 papers.
Medscape. From Web MD. Another search site for human diseases and other conditions.
