INTRODUCTION AND GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
HLT 110 is a course that focuses on wellness and a philosophy of holistic health. Concepts will be taught to help the student recognize the interrelatedness of the physical, psychological, emotional, social, and environmental factors which contribute to the overall quality of life. Practices which maintain or prevent good heath will be examined.

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  1. understand the implications of the holistic approach to health.
  2. compare the concepts of wellness with his/her own lifestyle, and identify areas for improvement.
  3. demonstrate familiarity with current major health problems facing the nation and community.
  4. Identify health resources provided by the community.
  5. Demonstrate a knowledge base which will allow analytical thinking about health and health problems.
The independent study section of this course has been designed to allow the student to meet the above objectives in a self-paced, self-directed manner.

The class will meet once or twice in the semester. All classes will meet at 1800 in MT 106. The student is expected to attend this class or classes.

Office hours will be announced to students at the first meeting. During these hours students should feel free to call the instructor with any questions.
