Learning another language is to enter a new world, and learning Chinese becomes a rewarding intellectual challenge as well as an entry into the Chinese culture. In over twenty years of teaching English and Chinese on this campus, I have always regarded teaching and learning as a joint enterprise in the joy of expanding our minds and spirits.
