Beliefs
Most Christians believe that humans are born into sin – a concept referred to as original sin. They believe that only through repentance of sin and the saving grace of God through the Christ can they gain atonement for their sins. In this way, Christians hope to gain salvation and be granted eternal life in heaven rather than eternal damnation in hell. Christians also believe that there are three aspects of the one God – a concept known as the trinity. Besides "God the Father" and "God the Son" (Jesus), Christians believe that there is also the Holy Spirit, which in-dwells those who become saved through acceptance of the sacrifice on the cross. Christians also believe in an "evil one" known as Satan and spiritual messengers (angels). Some Christians also believe in saints - holy men and women who lived great lives, often died as martyrs for their faith, and who can work as intercessors on behalf of those who pray to them.
