Jainism |
|
Jainism can be described as world denying but life affirming. The world it denies is material but life is spirit. Contemporary Jainism can trace its roots back to India over 2500 years ago but claims a much older heritage going back countless thousands of years into Indian pre-history. There are only about 2-3 million Jains in the world today, mostly in pockets in north and south India. There are about 6000 Jain families in the USA and 250 Jains in the Washington DC area.
