Superior Aspect of the Diaphragm

This photograph shows the diaphragm from its superior perspective being demonstrated by a student. Its domed shape is clear and interesting features are seen: The esophagus is shown entering the esophageal hiatus just posterior to the central tendon of the diaphragn. The venal caval foramen is seen lateral to the central tendon .
