Student Activities to accompany textbook

COMPETENCY LEVEL:
Basic Spanish language skills required. Prerequisite is SPA 102 or equivalent.

PURPOSE OF THE COURSE:
Continues to develop the four skills: understanding, speaking, reading and writing. Spanish is used in the classroom. Lecture 3 hours per week.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
ATTENDANCE IS ESSENTIAL
since difficult problems are explained in class. If you miss a class for any reason, it is your responsibility to complete assignments due to the next class session, and to be prepared to participate fully. If you must miss an exam on account of a justifiable absence, documentation and/or verification prior to making-up and exam may be required. Otherwise, there will be NO MAKE-UP exams.

TESTS:
There will be a test after each chapter and it will cover the material studied in class and in the textbook up to the current chapter.

TARDINESS
Tardiness is not tolerated. Attendance is checked at the beginning of class. Two "lates" will be considered an absence.

HOMEWORK
The exercises assigned in class are supposed to be done at home as class participation for the next day. Students who miss a class should contact the instructor or a classmate to obtain the homework for the next class. The instructor is not responsible for reminding students of missed work.

WITHDRAWALS
If a student intends to drop the course, he must submit the proper forms to Admissions and Records or he will receive an F. http://www.nvcc.edu/curcatalog/admin/register.htm

EVALUATION  
In order to be successful, students must complete all components and assignments .

The final grades are determined by:

Chapter tests

70% A =  90-100
Class attendance/ participation/
homework
20% B  =  80-89
Oral test 10% C  =  70-79
    D  =    0-60
    Below 60 - F

Last day to withdraw without penalty: November 2. 
Classes end: December 13

EMERGENCY EVACUATION
In case of emergency, please follow the emergency procedures as discussed on the first day of class and as posted in the classroom.

Students with disabilities may be eligible for accommodations in their classes. If you are a student with a disability, you may wish to contact a Counselor for Disability Services in THE COUNSELING CENTER ON YOUR CAMPUS.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Students are expected to follow Information Technology/Patron Ethics Agreement as posted in computer areas and academic integrity standards as set down in Student Handbook (pp. 78-79). Students will be respectful of the instructor and one another. Students that hinder the learning of others will be asked to leave the class. In addition, all pagers and cell phones must be turned off during class. "NO" text messaging. Eating and drinking are not allowed.
