Clicking on many of the category or topic hyperlinks (or hot links) should take you to the main web page (or information page) for that particular listing. Many of the organizational sites will also contain multiple links (gateways) to an assortment of other sites of interest. This is especially true for many of the criminal justice and law enforcement agency sites. Several sites also provide gateways to a multitude of other connecting links. The Criminal Justice Home Page of Dr. Cecil Greek, Florida State University School of Criminology & Criminal Justice is a good example of these type of "gateway" links. Other good examples are many of the sites maintained by various criminal justice textbook publishers such as Thomson/Wadsworth. These might possibly be the only sites that you will ever need to use to locate criminal justice topics and material, but many of the other sites certainly bear exploring. Several guides to Criminal Justice material on the Web have become available during recent years. In the past I have recommended various ones to my criminal justice students. Something that you will soon find out on your own precludes me from suggesting such materials today. Some individual webmasters and/or agencies do a very good job of maintaining and updating their listings, while others may not. It becomes frustrating to click on a variety of sites, only to receive error messages. Thousands of web links are being added, deleted, or significantly changed on a daily basis. It would be impossible to guarantee the accuracy and relevancy of all of the listed sites. Although they are checked frequently, sites will come and go, yet the world will continue to revolve. You should bookmark (in Netscape), or add to favorites (in Internet Explorer) any of the sites that you may want to easily return to. |
