MTH 174  Calculus II

Course Information

MTH 174 is the second semester in a three-semester sequence of calculus courses. It is designed for students majoring in math, computer science, engineering or one of the sciences (biology, chemistry, physics, etc). The topics covered in MTH 174 include:

  • Integration by parts
  • Trigonometric integrals
  • Trigonometric substitution

  • Finding centroids
  • Parametric equations
  • Equations expressed in polar coordinates
  • Conic sections
  • Infinite series
  • Sums of infinite series
  • Rules for determining convergence/divergence
  • Finding power series for functions
  • Taylor and Maclaurin series
  • Two-dimensional vectors
  • Arithmetic with vectors
  • The dot product
The prerequisite for this course is MTH 173 or a comparable first semester calculus course.
