Massive plant closings and layoffs by General Motors devastates Flint, Michigan. Flint native Michael Moore wants to question GM chairman, Roger Smith, to find out why GM is cutting back employment in spite of its considerable profits. In his search for the elusive Smith, Moore meets a host of other characters and documents the considerable economic and social costs through personal testimonies by former GM workers.
