GENERAL
COURSE PURPOSE:
Sociology 202 will acquaint the student with ideas and methods to better understand the organizational world in which we live and work today. The course will present the modern history and dynamic patterns and processes transforming our institutions.
REQUIRED TEXTS:
Introduction to Sociology, Giddens and Dunier
ATTENDENCE:
No unexcused absentness without good
explanation. I know this may seem a bit drastic, but poor attendance and
chronic lateness affects the student's performance in the class and the class
morale. In addition, please try to be on time; if you are
going to be late due to a scheduling problem please let me know. Otherwise,
after the first ten minutes of class, I will shut the door. Student can certainly leave the room, but no
one showing up for class after that ten minute grace period will be allowed to attend, but you will be marked absent!
EXAMINATIONS:
There are three essay exams in this course each worth 30 points. No term paper or extra credit-usually! However, 10% of your grade involves attendance and group participation and specified projects.
SPECIAL NEEDS STUDENTS:
Any student with special needs please inform the instructor at the beginning of the course.
