Final |
Final week begins May
6. Regular classes end May 5. |
Final Monday May 12 8-10:45 |
Grading:
Exams: Five exams will be given. Each exam will be worth 100 points. The lowest exam grade will be dropped. There are no exam make-ups.
Final: The final is comprehensive and
mandatory. The final will be worth 150
points.
Homework: Homework will be assigned for each chapter and
collected one class period after we have finished lecturing on that
chapter. Homework can be turned in for
extra credit. Each
homework set will be worth a maximum of 3 points. Failure to work even problems will result in
a zero.
Lab: Your lab instructor will determine your lab
grade. Your lab grade is worth 200 points and it will be averaged into your
lecture grade.
Your grade will be
calculated as follows
Total: 750 points:
Exams 400 points 90% and above: A
Lab 200 points 80-89 % B
Final 150 points 70-79% C
60-69% D
.
Cheating: Any attempt to give or receive information (Cheating)
on an Exam will result in an immediate zero for that Exam that cannot be
dropped. This includes looking at
another student's exam or having any type of notes on your desk or person
during an exam. Providing information to
another student during an exam is also cheating and will result in both of you
getting zeros. A second attempt at
cheating will result in an automatic F for the course.
Attendance: Regular lecture attendance is not required but
is strongly encouraged. Attendance will be taken daily for administrative
purposes. Regular Lab attendance is
required.
Topics to be covered: Chemical Foundations; Atoms; Atomic Structure and
Periodicity; Bonding; Molecules and Ions; Stoichiometry; Chemical Reactions;
Thermochemistry, Gases.
Homework: located at the end of each chapter.
