WELCOME TO THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF CHEMISTRY!!

This course will give you a greater understanding of the world you live in, help you to be an informed citizen -armed with information necessary to address many of our most pressing problem-, and the necessary background to achieve your professional goal of a career in a science related field

WEEK OF December 7 , 2009(Lecture & Lab)

NOTICES

Tutoring sessions are now available

A Saturday Tutoring Session has been added -2:00-4:00PM in Room 459

Monday & Thursday Labs - Lab has ended for the semester.

Quiz on previous lab and current lab.

Tuesday and Wednesday Lecture Classes:

SCANTRON NEEDED FOR EXAMS 4 AND 5.

Exam 4 is scheduled for the week of December 7. Subject matter for this exam is Chapter 8, section 8.4-8.8; Chapter 9, sections 9.2-9.10, and Chapter 10 sections 10.2-10.7.

Exam 5 is scheduled for the week of December 14. This exam is cumulative and will cover the following Chapters and sections: ,

2.5-2.8 3.5-3.10 4.2-4.9 5.3-5.8 6.5-6.8
7.4-7.6 8.1-8.7 9.1-9.10 10.1-10.7  

Questions regarding the 5th exam will be addressed after the 4th exam.

Use review sections at the end of the Chapter for a summary of concepts, relationships, and problems you should be able do to assure key skills are learned. Short answer problems will be similar to odd numbered problems at the end of each Chapter; answers to these problems can be found in the Appendix III of the course text .

 

The tables on VSEPR geometries and hybridization, contained in the Lewis structure handout, will be distributed with the equation handout for use with Exams 4 and 5.

Chemical Formulas for Exam

Lab Requirements Goggles (chemical splash type, not impact type) are required for labs starting on August 31 . No student is permitted in lab without his/her personal goggles. Closed toe shoes are also required in Laboratory. NO EXCEPTIONS. Student who do not wear goggles or proper shoes, will not be allowed in the laboratory and will not receive credit for the lab
