Torts (LGL 215)
This course acquaints students with the substantive law of torts and
enables them to assist an attorney in the research, preparation, and
trial of a tort case.
Fall 2012
Intro to Law & the Legal Assistant (LGL
110)
This course introduces various areas of law in which a
paralegal (or legal assistant) may be employed. The curriculum includes
a study of the court system (Virginia and federal) as well as a brief
overview of criminal law, torts, domestic relations, ethics, etc.
Family Law (LGL 117)
This course acquaints students with the law governing
marriage, annulment, separation, child support, and custody.
Legal Transactions (LGL 230) [1st 8 weeks]
This course introduces students to the common law of contracts,
provisions of the U.C.C., and principles of contract planning,
drafting, and interpretation.

Administration of Justice Associate of Applied Science Degree
The curriculum is designed to
provide a broad foundation that will
prepare students to enter any of the varied fields in criminal justice
or to prepare for professional advancement.
Paralegal Studies Associate of Applied Science Degree
The curriculum is designed
to provide an individual with a
sufficient level of knowledge, understanding and proficiency to perform
the tasks associated with meeting a client's needs. These tasks can be
performed by a trained paralegal or legal assistant working under the
direction and supervision of an attorney. This program is approved by
the American Bar Association.
