- Select a time when you can spend several hours at the National Museum of Natural History.
- A component of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, Natural History is located on the National Mall at the intersection of 10th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW.
- There is no public parking facility, but the museum is an easy walk from the Mall exit of Metro's Smithsonian Station, on the Blue and Orange lines.
- Natural History is open every day of the year except December 25. The regular hours are 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- There is no charge for admission. Photography is allowed in all exhibitions unless explicitly prohibited.

- When you leave for the museum, take with you a copy of the Field Trip Questions, the answers to which will constitute your trip report. The questions involve specific museum displays, all of which are located in the eastern wing of the building, on the 1st floor.
- During your visit, take enough notes that you will be able to compose complete and accurate answers to the trip-guide questions after you return home.

write a trip report

- Create a word-processing file that contains an answer to all of the trip-guide questions. Each answer should be at least one complete sentence.

submit your trip report
|
- Use your VCCS Student Email account to send me a message with your trip report included as an attached document. My address is at the bottom of the page. I will return an acknowledgement within twenty-four hours that I have received your document.

Your email message must be sent on or before 6 p.m., Monday, December 1, 2008.

grading
|
- If you submit a well-constructed trip report with a complete and accurate answer to every question, your grade will be 100.
- If you submit a readable report that lacks complete or accurate answers to a few questions, your grade will be 85.
- If you submit a notably incomplete, incoherent or inaccurate report, your grade will be 70.
- If your report is late, your grade will be reduced by ten points.
- If you submit no report, you will receive a grade of zero.
