1. What has caused the problems on Cyprus?  Turkish view?  Greek view?  Solutions?
2.  What problems has the Turkish Republic confronted since World War II?
3.  Discuss the political problems, social problems, successes, and goals of Turkey under Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.  Are there any aspects of Ataturk's policy that you believe should have been handled in a different style?  Do you think that Ataturk was good for Turkey?  If so, why so?  If not, why not?
4.  Compare and contrast Ataturk with Reza Shah according to the following:  (a) personal background;  (b)  the inherited political, economic, and social environment from past rulers; (c)  commitment to ideology;  (d) reforms and their process.
