While reading Chapter 3 of your textbook, watch for the following items.  When you find the item in Chapter 3, identify the object or person.  Some items are more important than others.  On your exam, you will need to identify and discuss the importance of the most important individuals or items.

Topics for Study
The following essay questions should be guides for your reading of Chapter 3.  The topics may suggest an idea for a research paper that would  increase your knowledge of the topic. The following essay questions will be included on the First Exam.  You will write two essays on the first exam.  You will choose your exam essays.  
1.  Discuss the impact of Anglo-Saxon invasion of England.

2.  Discuss in detail the differences between Celtic Christianity and Roman Christianity.

3.  What w ere the lasting contributions of the Saxons on British culture?
4.  Discuss the major differences between  Celtic Christianity and Roman Christianity.  Why were the Anglo-Saxon kings attracted to Roman Christianity rather than Celtic Christianity?
5.  Explain in detail the separate institutions that formed Anglo-Saxon government.  What services did the local thegns and fyrds provide for the king?
