ASSIGNMENT SHEET FOR INTERNET ACTIVITY:

Read AT LEAST three individual documents found on the links below. Your assignment is to write 500 words in response to this question: What do the Crusades tell us about the importance of religion in Medieval Europe? How do Europeans in the time of the Crusades talk and act with regard to religion? Why do some regard the Crusades as the high point of Medieval Christianity? Why did Europeans respond so willingly to the pope's call for a crusade?

You must use examples from these web pages and can include examples about the language of Christianity, the power of the popes, the actions of Crusaders fighting Muslim warriors or their explanations for why things happen to find Christian symbols or ideas or influence. You must use quotations and/or examples from three different documents (and identify each document you use by crusade and title) in answering this question. This assignment is to be turned in at the beginning of our next class, or it can be emailed to me before our next class. Late assignments will be graded down.
