Recommendation Letter Policy

Dr. S. Psychology Webpage

Every college recommendation letter must contain certain pieces of information. Most notably, the recommender must indicate how long they have known the student and in what capacity. It looks bad on your transfer application if your recommenders have known you for only one class and one semester. For this reason, if you wish to get a written recommendation from me, you MUST meet the following criteria:

1) Have Taken [or be in the process of taking] TWO Classes With Me with a grade of B or better in each.

2) Participated in some psych-related activity outside of the classroom (e.g. participated in my book club, the psych fair, the psych club, or volunteered at activities performed by any of the psychology professors, regularly attended office hours to chat about psych topics).

3) Make your request at least 2 weeks before the recommendation is due. Requests for recommendations in less than two weeks will not be honored.
