Misconceptions about human nature run rampant in our culture.
People are told that depression is a chemical imbalance in their brain, implying that it is genetic when in fact these brain chemicals (called neurotransmitters) cannot be measured in a living brain (and therefore cannot be definately linked to depression) and often are released in response not to genes but to environment changes (such as soft touch, threatening bear, job loss).
Learn the truth about recovered memory, catharsis theory, truth serums, and more by taking a psychology class.
