Automotive Technology, A Systems Approach, 4th Edition, Jack Erjavec.
CONTENT:
This course is a
prerequisite/co-requisite for all automotive students. It is a study of the automotive laboratory
with emphasis on safety, tools, equipment, shop and service procedures, and
sources of technical information.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of this course the student
will be able to demonstrate:
a. A thorough understanding of
job safety.
b. Familiarity with OSHA
requirements.
c.
A basic knowledge of laboratory operation and organization.
d. Proper care and use of tools
and equipment.
e. Knowledge of elementary
service procedures.
f. Knowledge of Right to Know
legislation

are reminded to read Sections II, Student Conduct, and Section VI, Academic
Dishonesty, of the Student Handbook. If
you have any questions or need clarification, please ask.

or require accommodations need to inform me of what you require. Please let me know by the end of the second
class/lab period.
QUIZZES:
Expect a written or oral quiz
at the beginning of each class. Additional quizzes may be given at any time. In
the event that you miss a quiz, you must contact the instructor by email or
voice mail for a make up before the next class. (See Page 3 of your syllabus
for making up missed quizzes.)
ATTENDANCE:
While attendance is not
mandatory, regular attendance is strongly recommended. Participation in the
class, quizzes, and laboratory contract are the basis of your grade, missing
class or lab will affect your ability to pass the course.

The college policy for
canceling classes due to inclement weather is not campus specific. The decision
to cancel classes for the entire college is made early in the morning for
daytime classes and in the afternoon for evening classes, they are separate
decisions. This information is available on local radio and TV stations as well

COURSE WITHDRAWAL:
In the event you are unable to
complete the course requirements and you wish to withdrawal, YOU ARE
RESPONSIBLE FOR COMPLETING THE NECESSARY FORMS available at the Admissions
& Records office to obtain a "W" grade. Failure to do so will
result in a failing grade for the course.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Achieve a passing average in
the oral/written quizzes.
2. Complete the lab contract.
3. Participate in the class
discussions.

= 91-100

Final 30% C = 71-80

for making up missed quizzes.
All make quizzes must be turned in
the following class in order to receive credit.
If you miss a quiz you need
to answer all the review questions at the end of the chapter and write down the
page number and location of the answer. Failure to write the page number
and/or location will result in that question being counted incorrect. You
will automatically receive one grade less on make-up.
