Psy 216 Research Presentation Assignment

Applied Social Psychology

For your assignment, you will find and report on a research article addressing your topic. These are to be empirical articles in peer-reviewed journals, dated within the last 10 years.

Use the library databases of peer-reviewed journal articles to find an appropriate article. Email me a copy of the article too. Your article is due to me by April 9.

You will make an oral presentation, using PowerPoint, in class on April 23 or 28. You will have approximately 10 minutes for your presentation. There will also be a few minutes for questions and answers.

The information to include in your presentation is:

·        Background of topic—why did the researchers do the study?

·        The hypotheses or research questions

·        The method and results

·        Conclusion and applications

On the day of your presentation, you should also have a one-page handout for the class. This handout should include the reference for the article in APA style. It should also include an abstract that you will write yourself.

Criteria for grading:

·        Clarity and correctness in explaining the background and hypotheses

·        Clarity and correctness in explaining the method and results

·        Clarity and correctness in explaining the conclusions and applications

·        Quality of PowerPoint presentation
