Related Work Experience

I started my NVCC career by teaching a summer class at the Manassas campus in 2000. During that course, I got the good news that I had been hired full-time by the Alexandria campus. I started in August 2000.

I have moved around a lot since graduating from UVA. Before coming back to Northern Virginia, I was living in Texas. I worked as both a researcher and as an adjunct professor at South Plains College in Lubbock, Texas. I taught General Psychology and Human Development for two semesters.

I also worked as an adjunct professor at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. I taught Educational Psychology and student success courses for two semesters.

Prior to moving to Texas, I taught Research Methods at Indiana University. I was also a teaching assistant for Social Psychology over several semesters for three professors.

My psychology career was started at the University of Denver, where I worked as a lab manager and research assistant for Marshall Haith for three years.

Interspersed with these jobs have been stints as a corporate trainer for AT&T and as a long-term "temp" in Fairfax.

Family Life

I'm married to a psychologist who is a professor at George Washington University. We have a young daughter. Hopefully, having psychologists as parents won't permanently warp her development. We also have two cats. In my "spare" time (Ha!) I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, and cooking.
