Information for Psy 213 students

Course description: Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences is an introduction to understanding and using statistical analyses in behavioral research. You will learn how to select, compute, and interpret descriptive statistics and inferential statistical tests for a variety of research questions.

Required materials for the course:

1. Calculator with basic functions of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, square, and square root.

2. Textbook:

Basic Statistics for the Behavioral Science, Fifth Edition (2006, Houghton-Mifflin) by Gary W. Heiman.

3. A stapler to staple you assignments.

Resources for help:

1. The book's web site has practice quizzes for each chapter.

2. The Alexandria campus has a math lab that offers free math tutoring. Check their schedule on room 161 for hours. Their phone number is 703-845-6151.

3. I have review questions for each chapter that you should use to guide your reading and studying.

4. I have a site that allows you to review research methods. Pay special attention to correlation and experiment.
