Using Dreamweaver, one of the most popular Web design tools on the market, you will learn to build a site, add content, format, layout and link pages to create a unified Web site. Students will learn to use templates to simplify site design and upkeep.
Prerequisite: Students should be familiar with using a Web browser to view Web pages and using a mouse on a Windows PC.

Learn advanced Dreamweaver techniques in this follow-up to Build a Web Site Quick & Easy With Dreamweaver. In this class, students will learn to add DHTML features, work with layers, CSS, behaviors, advanced template functions and table features, dynamic effects including animation and sound, and basic form validation.

Web Graphics Using Photoshop, Part 1

9:30 am - 4:30 pmIn this introductory class, students will learn the basics of Adobe Photoshop, web graphic formats, working with photographs in the web environments, and compressing images for the web. Through hands-on exercises, students will create thumbnail images and multiple web background images using techniques taught in this class. Students should bring a USB storage device with them to class for saving class files.
Prerequisite: Students should be comfortable using Microsoft Windows and a mouse.

Flash Basics

In this course students will become familiar with the Flash environment and use Flash tools to create images, add text, alter basic shapes, and work with colors. Students will learn to work with the layers and the timeline and will learn how to use masking techniques. Finally, students will be introduced to basic animation concepts including shape and motion tweens and frame-by-frame animations. Students should bring a USB storage device with them to class for saving class files.
Prerequisite: Students should be comfortable using Microsoft Windows and a mouse.
Flash: Advanced Animation

Build a Web Site With Flash

The website project will include built-in animations, navigation techniques, special effects and how to display text and graphic content. Flash forms may be used for gathering information from users or for providing utilities, online quizzes or drills, or simple games. Through hands-on exercises, students will learn to work with form components and create a user registration form and trivia game. Prerequisite: Flash Advanced Animation or equivalent skills/knowledge

Web Design Basics (HTML/XHTML & CSS)

7 pm - 10 pmThis class is for designers who want a good understanding of the basic concepts in building Web pages. Students will learn to use HTML/XHTML and CSS to create various types of Web pages using lists, tables, forms, frames, images and more. This class is ideal for individuals who want to design Web pages professionally and provides an understanding of the foundation skills in Web design. Students should bring a USB storage device to class for saving class files.
Prerequisite: Students should be comfortable using Web browsers to view Web pages. Typing 35+ wpm recommended.
JavaScript Basics

7 pm - 10 pmIn this course, students will learn the basics of using JavaScript, one of the Web's most popular client-side scripting languages, to add functionality to Web pages. Topics to be covered include: integrating JavaScript with HTML; working with variables and forms, basic logic structures and JavaScript functions, and form validation techniques. Students will use the various techniques through a variety of hands-on activities and exercises. Students should bring a USB storage device to save class files.
Prerequisite: Students should have a good working knowledge of HTML/XTHML and CSS.
Extensible Markup Language (XML): Introduction

7 pm - 10 pmXML (Extensible Markup Language) allows for sharing data between applications and is at the core of AJAX programming for the web. In this class students will learn the basics of XML including working with elements, attributes and values; root elements; document structure, DTDs and XML schemas. Students should bring a USB storage device with them to class for saving class files.
Prerequisite: Working knowledge of HTML/XHTML.
XSL: Styling XML
ITEC 1660 - 01W

9:30 am - 4:30 pmLearn to manipulate and display XML data using XSL stylesheets. In this class students will learn to work with XSL and XPath for formatting data and nodes. Students will learn to intermingle HTML/XHTML, CSS, XML and XSL to create formatted output.
Prerequisite: XML Basics and a working knowledge of HTML/XHTML and CSS
